The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), published annually by Transparency International, provides an insight into the extent to which corruption is perceived in 180 countries. With a scale from 0 (very corrupt) to 100 (very clean), the CPI provides an in-depth analysis of the state of global corruption. The 2023 report was recently published and we are pleased to provide an update on the main conclusions from this report.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cdee938 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"cdee938\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Alarming Global Trends<\/h5>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-48c5d5c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"48c5d5c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>Still high levels of corruption: The recent 2023 CPI report shows that corruption is still a common occurrence. This is a troubling finding that points to major problems in public sectors.<\/li><li>Global low scores: More than two-thirds of countries score below 50 on the CPI, indicating serious corruption problems. These low scores highlight the magnitude of the problem and the need for urgent reform.<\/li><li>Global decline: The world average stands at only 43, showing that most countries are either making no progress or even regressing in their fight against corruption. But 28 countries have improved their CPI score since 2012, while 34 have actually scored lower.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-003a0e9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"003a0e9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h5 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Democratic countries score higher<\/h5>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3809dda elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3809dda\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Landen met een sterke rechtsstaat en goed functionerende democratische instellingen staan vaak bovenaan de index. Finland and New Zealand follow closely with scores of 87 and 85, respectively. Norway (84), Singapore (83), Sweden (82), Switzerland (82), the Netherlands (79), Germany (78) and Luxembourg (78) complete the 2023 top 10.<\/p><p>Ondertussen scoren landen die conflicten doormaken of waar sprake is van sterk beperkte vrijheden en zwakke democratische instellingen het slechtst.
